Hop on the Band Wagon
invitation to participate in music education program

Dear Future Band Parents,
On behalf of the Boyer Valley Community School instrumental music department, I would like to take this opportunity to invite your son or daughter to join band this school year. Music is a lifelong activity that will benefit your son or daughter for the rest of their lives.
If you own an instrument that is in excellent playing condition
and has been checked by a music technician, your student may use
that instrument. If your instrument has not been checked out, I
will need to check it prior to band to make sure it is in working
condition. I can check out your used band instrument when school
starts for teachers on August 17, 2009
We will have a meeting for all new band students and parents in the
Dow City Music room on August 18, 2009 from 6:30pm to 6:45pm. At
this time I will give a presentation for parents and students on
what to expect in band for the upcoming year, after which you will
be free to meet with Mid Bell Music. They will be here until 7:30
p.m.
Many may need an instrument. We will have a band display of all of the instruments. Mid Bell Music from Sioux City (1-800-798-1000) will be available to answer all of your questions regarding the rental and/or purchasing of an instrument for your child. All band students need a lesson book. They will sell lesson books (about $9.95 and music stands (optional, about $15.00) for all.
Band will begin for 5th Graders on the week of August 24, 2009. Your new instrument will be handed out to your child at that time. Those of you who have your own instruments, should see that your child brings it to school this week.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions concerning your son's or daughter's participation in band. We expect a large crowd that evening so you may want to come early.
